Through Water
Through Water is the inaugural collection of Cymatic images, a result of an extensive period of experimentation with sound though water, and the interplay of reflected light. These foundational works, unique in Oto Sui’s private collection, are not available for sale. They serve as a reference point to for the exploratory process and the creative journey so far, low in resolution they serve as a template for future works that will be in much higher resolution.
Building on the insights from Through Water, Oto Sui is now developing a new body of work. This upcoming collection will feature a series of ethereal cymatic images, born from soundscapes composed using a blend of acoustic piano, the esoteric Resonant Garden instrument, and a self-built Nagra Cello, a custom tape-based sampler that creates enchanting textures by bowing quarter inch tape over a Nagra tape head.
